Position Title: Marketing Manager

 

Full time based in Takapuna, Auckland

Salary range $75k to $85k depending on experience

Reports to: Artistic Director

 

 Position Purpose

To work alongside the Trustees of The Operating Theatre Trust, Artistic Director, Business Development Manager, Publicist, Youth Theatre Managers and other team members to manage and implement marketing and communications plans across the board for all of The Trust’s activities. We also have two new roles being established in 2022 – Partnerships Lead (for corporate sponsorships) and Development Manager – Major Gifts and Bequests, which the Marketing Manager role will also work alongside of.

To increase awareness of and engagement with the company’s activities and brand and to increase ticket sales, online video sales, Youth Theatre enrolments and general donations.

To continue to develop and manage the marketing plan, including digital marketing and social media, as the company develops and evolves.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing

  • Effective implementation of the marketing and communications plans and campaigns for The Trust for the strands of the business – theatre productions, Youth Theatre activities, online videos, donations and Gift a Seat.
  • Effective implementation of show-by-show marketing and communications plans and campaigns for upcoming performances by The Trust.
  • Work closely with the Youth Theatre Manager to manage, develop and implement the marketing campaigns for The Trust’s Youth Theatre and Theatre Workshops.
  • Copywriting for the website and a variety of marketing materials including newsletters, blogs, flyers, posters, articles etc.
  • Designing, copywriting, scheduling and implementing Mailchimp campaigns with post-campaign reporting.
  • Support of and liaison with design and production of collateral and marketing materials for all activities.
  • With the Business Development Manager, ensure the smooth running of the Gala Performance by coordinating VIP communications and VIP list/RSVPS.
  • With the Business Development Manager ensure the smooth running of ad hoc events by coordinating the marketing of these events, VIP communications and VIP list/RSVPS
  • Manage, in liaison with the Business Development Manager, the marketing campaigns/activities for fundraising, sponsorship and cross-promotional initiatives.
  • Continue to develop and evolve the marketing and communications plans as needed, finding new and relevant marketing initiatives that will benefit The Trust.
  • Build relationships and maintain effective and efficient communication with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • With the Schools Engagement Co-ordinator build sales with schools and early childhood centres.
  • Maintain the website, using WordPress, keeping it up to date, liaising with the website developers for all website enquires, problems and developments.
  • Oversee Google analytics and use website data for future targeted campaigns.
  • Manage and develop TBTC’s social media sites.
  • Create regular content for the blog on the TBTC website.
  • Create content (including video e.g. interviews, rehearsal and promotional footage) for TBTC’s social media sites.
  • Manage Google Adwords campaigns.
  • Assist interns providing support, learnings and activities.
  • Manage and report on post-show and post-campaign surveys.
  • Manage customer database (Infoodle) ensuring it is up to date.
  • Receiving, approving and coding all relevant suppliers’ invoices before sending to Artistic Director for final approval.
  • Collection and maintenance of all marketing files and relevant resources for all current and future productions so that they are accessible by the team.
  • Attend any marketing, performing arts, audience development or other courses or meetings that the Artistic Director or Business Development Manager recommends. And to also suggest such courses to the Artistic Director that might be relevant to the role.
  • To establish links, build new contacts, networks, partnerships, with regional and local partners and identify and develop initiatives to further the aims and objectives of the organisation.

  • Work with the Partnerships Lead to ensure agreements for sponsorships (logo placement, promotions) are fulfilled.
  • Work with the Partnerships Lead to manage and maintain external relationships with Partners.

General

  • Self-development of skills and knowledge to attain high levels of expertise in varied fields.
  • Adhering to all of The Trust’s policies and procedures at all times.
  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties as required including providing support in other work areas to assist with coverage for busy periods, absences etc.
  • Working with other team members across the business to achieve consistent goals.
  • Adhering to and promoting The Trust’s values at all times.
  • Adhering to, and promoting Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Diligently completing allocated tasks in a timely and accurate way at all times.

 

Competencies, skills & experience

  • 5+yrs experience in a similar marcomms role
  • Relevant degree
  • Experience in a charity or arts organisation
  • Proven experience in marcomms planning and roll-out
  • Proven experience in social media/digital marketing including google ads/analytics
